The WSUD Maintenance Compliance Framework is an award-winning national framework developed with industry experts to support local governments in ensuring water sensitive urban design (WSUD) assets are maintained.
The project is being developed with input from hundreds of experts across Australia’s stormwater industry – including government, catchment groups, manufacturers, service providers, and more. It includes instructions, a mockup technological system, legal information, content for fact sheets and letters, and so much more.
An issue for the industry has been how to operate a WSUD maintenance compliance program. The Guideline and process maps that will be included within this Framework will provide guidance for the processes of operating such a program.
To be able to effectively enforce and manage compliance in a compliance program, an Information Management System is needed. The Framework will provide the foundations to your very own Information Management System.
To improve maintenance of WSUD systems, it is important to educate and engage with all stakeholders. Due to this, the Framework will provide some educational and engagement material so stakeholders can understand what is happening and what they need to do.
A compliance program is nothing without the ability to enforce compliance. This ability is provided through a strong legal foundation. The Framework will provide legal information and material to build a program's legal foundation.
It will provide a solution to the industry on how to solve an issue that it has been facing for a long time (maintenance compliance).
It will pool the best information, resources, and tools that the industry has, which will create a more standardised and efficient way to do WSUD.
It has led to the creation of the National WSUD Compliance Network which will help improve collaboration for WSUD compliance within the industry.
It will provide a case study for the industry on new ways to deal with issues by providing insights for other industry projects and initiatives.
